Trick or Tracting

Hey y'all!
Happy almost Halloween aka my fav holiday (next to Christmas of course) This week was incredible. One of the best weeks on my mission for sure. We just saw miracle after miracle. I am so in love with being a missionary and with the Gulf Breeze area. I never want this to end :( but let's not talk about that....

We had so many amazing lessons!! Stephanie, the girl we met a few weeks ago at her acai store, is really progressing. We taught her the plan of salvation on Tuesday and she just understood everything and loved the comfort and peace Heavenly Father's plan can provide for her and her family. I just love the energy and excitement Stephanie has for learning about the gospel. She has mentioned that she has always hungered for something more and now she has found it. It makes my heart so happy :)

Sage, our modern day Joseph Smith, is on fire as well! We also taught him the plan of salvation this week and it's honestly like too good to be true teaching him. He has no hold ups or concerns, it almost feels unreal, but hey, I'm grateful! I am so excited for him to get baptized :)

We went on exchanges with the Pensacola sisters this week and Sister Lewis came here to Gulf Breeze with me. We had a wonderful exchange! We had service planned for an inactive member, Abby Baker, at her work at 2 pm so we drove all the way out there and unfortunately, she ended up not being there. Her secretary told us we could wait for her so we sat down and got to know her secretary, Vallen, for a couple minutes and then taught her the restoration of the gospel. Turns out, Vallen has actually studied and read the Book of Mormon years ago and found it fascinating and has such a strong passion and love for her family. She said she loves that we have a modern-day prophet with the proper priesthood authority and cant wait to learn more. We have another lesson with her this week. Heavenly Father truly is in the details of our lives. Had we not gone to Abby Baker's work, we wouldn't have been able to meet and teach Vallen!

Sister Sjoblom and I go to a senior living home every Friday to sing and play some hymns for them. It is such a treat. The elderly bring such joy into my life and make me SO HAPPY!!! I have already decided once I come home, I will continue to do this. (and Siena, you're going to come with me, k?? ;)) I just love hearing about their incredible, well-lived lives. Man, I love service oh so much!!

I have been doing a lot of reflection of my mission and what I have been able to learn, accomplish, and who I have been able to become with the Lord's help. It is interesting to me, how I have never felt so much in my entire life how aware God is of me as his daughter, and how aware He is of His children that I have been blessed to serve. What I have realized more so is that he has ALWAYS been aware of me, even before my mission. He is not exponentially more aware of me in my life as a missionary. I am just much more aware of Him. God has always been involved in all the details of my life. My mission has just taught me how to notice Him more, but He always is and always will be aware of my needs. It doesn't stop here and this is true for everyone! God is aware of all of us and will never ever stop loving us, so we need to be aware of Him and love Him!

The gospel is JOY!!!! I love D&C 128:19, "Now, what do we hear in the gospel which we have received? A voice of gladness! A voice of mercy from heaven; and a voice of truth out of the earth; glad tidings for the dead; a voice of gladness for the living and the dead; glad tidings of great joy! How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of those that bring glad tidings of good things, and that say unto Zion: behold, thy God reigneth!"

I have never been happier in my entire life. I have never experienced such Godly peace, and I know it doesn't stop here :) I love y'all! Have a great Halloween and an awesome week!

Sorry 99.9% of these pictures are going to be of me and my cute comp!

One month to go

Hi!!  This week wasn't too eventful. We drove and biked a ton. We spent Tuesday in Crestview, FL, Friday in Brewton, AL, and most of Sunday in Pensacola Beach. I love seeing lots of different places!
Man, I have never biked so much on my mission than we did this past week! I just love biking because no matter how your day went, you feel so accomplished by the end of the night. You feel like a real-life missionary, even though we always are ;)

Oh but we did pick up an awesome new investigator who is literally just like Joseph Smith!! He just wants to sincerely know which church is God's true church. We invited him to be baptized on November 4th and he was so excited and said yes! Everyone please pray for Sage :))

Sister Sjoblom and I met with the zone leaders on Wednesday and discussed what we can do to make our zone the one everyone wants to be in! We came up with a motto and a mascot. #doitfortheDOLPHINS. We are having waaaay too much fun with this. When the zone leaders go to other district meetings, they are going to bring a huge blow-up dolphin and everyone is going to sign it. When we go on exchanges with the sisters around the zone, we are going to do the same thing. Just wanna build that zone unity and make missionary work fun! cause it can be a blast :))

I love being a missionary. I love representing my Savior, Jesus Christ. I love the Book of Mormon and know it is the word of God.  Read it and pray about it, and you will come to love it too.

Sorry this is so short, but I love y'all so much! I will be home in one month from today! so if any of y'all haven't written me or emailed me in a while, you better get on it ;) lol just kidding...kinda.

#Nasty Nate

Hey everyone! This week was literally insane!! but so much fun. First off, I got a new companion, Sister Sjoblom! She's from North Ogden, Utah, and is the tenth of eleven children. She's so cute and has a guitar on the mission and has been learning to play so I've been teaching her some songs and we jam out all the time! We are going to have the best transfer together :)

So I can now say I survived my first hurricane! Hurricane Nate (Nasty Nate) came through Gulf Breeze late Saturday night. We were able to stay at our sweet bishop's house and he and his wife took really good care of us. (they will be the reason for all the weight I have gained...) I am such a light sleeper so the strong winds and rain kept me up all night but it was a way cool experience! Church was cancelled on Sunday so we us went around the ward boundaries looking for trees and loose limbs on the ground. It was fun to get out and serve!

This week was nuts with transfers, MLC in Bonifay, and the hurricane! But amidst it all, we were able to pick up an AMAZING new investigator. We went to an acai bowl place one day here in Gulf Breeze which most of you know is like my favorite food EVER. The girl who co-owns the place, Stephanie, moved here from Brazil just seven months ago with her cousin to open up this little shop. She is the cutest thing ever! She speaks very good English but would rather read in Portugese so we were able to order a Portuguese Book of Mormon for her! We dropped it off the other day on the way to an appointment and I don't think I have ever seen someone so excited to have their own Book of Mormon before. I am SO excited to start teaching Stephanie, she seems so prepared by Heavenly Father! I think we should get acai more often ;)

I have been studying a lot about the Atonement of Jesus Christ lately. A few things I have read have really stuck out to me and I want to share them with y'all :

"During His mortal ministry, the Savior CHOSE to experience pains and afflictions in order to understand us. We also need to experience the depths of mortality in order to understand Him and our eternal purposes."

"The Savior could have known how to succor us simply by revelation, but he CHOSE to learn by His own personal experience."

Key word here is chose. How incredible and unfathomable that the Savior experienced what He did for us and bled from every pore just so He could understand us and succor us when we go through pain and trial. This has taken on a whole new meaning to me throughout the past few months. I feel like we can never fully grasp the Atonement of Jesus Christ or understand it in its entirety, but every time we go through pain and make it out alive, and learn something from it, we are becoming a little bit more like the Savior. Who doesn't want to be more like the Savior? I am so so grateful for Him and His perfect gospel that I have the opportunity to share!

too. dang. blessed.

I love you all!
